One week in!!!

Well it was a week ago today we started our home ed journey and we are enjoying it so much so far.

It was a challenge on Monday and Tuesday as I was trying to balance entertaining a 3 year old and educating a 5 year old but we survived!

After a few misgivings about missing her friends my 5 year old is settling down fantastically and is generally a much happier child. We attended our first meet up of other home ed parents in the area and the kids had a fantastic time! We also arranged for some of my daughters school friends to come around for dinner after school one night next week so she is very excited about this.

So far we don't have a curriculum to follow as such and we just go with the flow a little on times for work but it seems to be sinking in and we have tackled halving and doubling and learnt the 2 times table in the space of about 3 days. It is no wonder she was bored at school as she seems to eat information and would have spent 2 or 3 weeks doing the basics of a topic before moving on. 

Also although we are reading books that are more difficult than maybe she needs we are enjoying the reading as the stories are of interest and not chosen for her.

So far this is being the best decision we have ever made and hopefully will continue to be so!
