Easter and things

Well since my last post Easter has been and gone. We had a lovely time and made a set of ressurection eggs to count the days to Easter and learn more about the Easter story too.

We also had some great fun at messy church learning about Easter and the resurection and encountered a great craft idea involving a donut and icing to make a tomb

Last week we visited our local RSPB nature reserve to have a go at some pond dipping, we did rather well at catching tadpoles and made for an interesting discussion about life cycles, we also saw one of the dragonfly lava attack and eat a tadpole we had caught which led to some fun questions 

I recently decided to try and make reading a more engaging experience for the girls and so we have been making story sacks with slightly longer and more challenging stories in to suit their age 

We have recently been experiencing some challenging behaviour which we have tried to approach by helping the girls understand their emotions instead of just getting angry, we have done this by reading lots of books on feelings and situations and also through music, both by using music to express emotion and by listening to collections designed to give children a better understanding of their feelings and emotions

Lastly today we have been sewing and my eldest daughter has made a small pillow, out of material scraps, and a toy octopus out of old socks and an old hat.
